Privacy policy
This policy covers the Bangalore Jamaat mobile app (Android and iPhone) and this website, www.blrjmt.com. Both are run by the three anjuman offices of the Dawoodi Bohra community in Bengaluru: Anjuman e Taiyabi, Anjuman e Saifee and Anjuman e Vajihi (“the Jamaat”, “we”). Last updated 28 October 2026.
Signing in
The app is for Mumineen of the Bengaluru Jamaat. You sign in with your 8-digit ITS number and a one-time code, sent on WhatsApp to the mobile number the Jamaat holds for you and, if the Jamaat holds an email address for you, by email as well. You can also sign in through ITS52. No account is created in the app: it shows the record the Jamaat already keeps for you.
What the app collects and why
- Your Jamaat record: your name, photo, ITS number, sector, gender, age, mobile number, email, address, occupation and qualification; your family members; and your sabeel and Faiz amounts, receipts, khidmat history and bookings. This record already exists in the Jamaat's books; the app reads it to show it to you, and members of the same family can see each other's family details.
- What you do in the app: event RSVPs and bookings, messages you send to the Jamaat offices, and changes you make to your business listing. We keep them so the offices can act on them. Office staff who send announcements upload the photos, videos and documents attached to them.
- Photos you choose: when you add photos to a business listing (or office staff attach files to an announcement), the app opens your phone's photo picker and uploads only the items you pick. It never reads the rest of your gallery.
- Your business listing, if you add one: its name, contact numbers, email, address and photos. Its name, address, email and Plus Code are shown publicly in the business directory on this website; its phone numbers and partners are shown only to signed-in members.
- Location, only while you set a business address: when you open the map to place your business, the app asks for location permission and, if you allow it, uses your phone's position to place the pin. The position is saved only as the listing's Plus Code. The app never uses location at any other time, and never in the background.
- Your device: a device identifier, the phone's make, model and name, its operating-system version, time zone, language, network type and screen size, the app version, whether notifications are on, and a notification token. We use these to deliver Jamaat announcements and to fix problems on particular phones.
- Crash reports and usage counts: when the app crashes or meets an error, a report with the device details above is sent to Firebase Crashlytics, and Firebase Analytics counts which screens are used, along with an approximate region worked out from your connection. We do not attach your name, ITS number or mobile number to these reports.
- Server records: when something goes wrong, or an amount is changed, our servers record the time, the member involved, the connection's IP address and the device or browser, so the problem can be fixed and changes traced. Error alerts reach our technical team through Telegram.
The app shows no advertising, does not use an advertising identifier, and never sells or rents your information.
On this website
The website keeps you signed in with a session cookie. Visits are measured with Google Analytics, with IP addresses anonymised and Google's advertising features (Google Signals) switched off. When a member is signed in, their visits are counted under a one-way scrambled code, together with their sector, jamiat, gender and age band and whether they belong to the Bengaluru Jamaat, so that repeat visits can be recognised without revealing who the visitor is. Your name, ITS number and email are never sent. These measurements are used only to improve this website and the Jamaat's services.
Who else handles it
- WhatsApp (Meta) delivers the one-time sign-in code, and Amazon Web Services delivers it by email.
- ITS52 handles your sign-in when you choose to sign in through it.
- Google Firebase and Google Analytics deliver notifications and receive the crash reports and usage counts described above.
- OpenStreetMap supplies the map you use to place a business, and so sees your connection's IP address and the area shown.
- Telegram carries error alerts to our technical team.
- Razorpay processes payments made on pay.blrjmt.com. Your card or bank details go to Razorpay and are never seen or stored by the app.
Each handles only what its job needs. We share your information with no one else unless the law requires it.
How it is kept safe
Everything travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Your sign-in is kept in your phone's secure storage and removed when you sign out, together with what the home-screen widgets show. Each sector's office works with its own sector's records, and office staff see only what their role allows.
How long we keep it
Your Jamaat record is kept for as long as you are a member, as part of the Jamaat's records. Device details stay on our servers until you ask us to delete them. Crash reports and analytics are kept by Google for a limited period and then deleted.
Your choices
- Sign out at any time: your sign-in and widget data are removed from the phone.
- Turn off notifications or location access in your phone's settings; the rest of the app keeps working.
- Ask your sector's office for a copy of your information, to correct it, or to delete your business listing and your device details. Some records, such as receipts, are kept because the Jamaat must keep its accounts.
Children
The app is meant for adult members. A child's information appears only as part of their family's record, seen by members of that family.
